I had been standing too long (and I knew it, but I didn’t want to stop because we were having fun), but eventually, I started paying the price. I had to sit down, so I steered us to the Animation Building because I could spend hours sitting in that lobby without getting tired of it.
After sitting for about 10 minutes, it was time for our Racers Fastpasses, so we started toward Cars Land. I had never noticed this billboard before, and we’ve still never seen Cars 2, so I have no idea how Mater became “Sir Mater.”
As we rounded the corner, we saw that the ride was down (womp, womp). Sometimes I love when rides are down during a Fastpass window, though, because it means that they can be used anytime it’s up for the rest of the day. It reminds me of the good old days of hording Fastpasses until the end of the day and then binge-riding all the top rides at night. But I digress.
We started to walk back out of Cars Land.
On the way out, however, we passed the Cozy Cone and Tracy wondered aloud whether they happened to have the Pickle Flavored Popcorn there today. She LOVES pickles and had been dying to try it. We stopped at the Popcone station, and it was indeed on today’s menu.
We asked if we could try a sample of it before buying to make sure we liked it (it seemed like the cast member was used to this request, and she gave us each Dixie cups full of it to try). I wasn’t totally sold, but Tracy liked it enough that we decided to get it.
We ate the popcorn as we walked, and I decided it’s the kind of flavor that grows on you over time. We headed out of DCA and into Disneyland where we took our snack on a trip aboard the Railroad.
I love the Hidden Mickey that you ride past en route to the Toontown Depot.
And I always wish that we could see the resident of that doghouse…
As we rode past “it’s a small world,” we could see through to the Matterhorn, which had some climbers atop it.
We got off the train in Tomorrowland and grabbed Fastpasses for Space Mountain. Next, we headed to Star Trader and had some very helpful cast members coax us toward the best mystery Vinylmations in the black box. We ended up trading for this lion from an Animal Kingdom set.
We decided to cross the park, and on the way, we stopped for a picture with the Partners statue.
Hoping to find Jasmine at Aladdin’s Oasis (so Tracy could show off her nails), we headed to Adventureland.
The characters were nowhere to be found in spite of the sign out front saying they were inside, so we stopped for a few minutes at the tables in the Oasis. We had never spent any time here before and didn’t realize there was a stage with an actual Cave of Wonders entrance back there.
As we sat, I thoroughly enjoyed the background loop they play there. It was comprised of traditional ragtime and big band songs performed in the style of Arabian songs. While we were there, I recognized slightly altered versions of “The Entertainer” and “Sing, Sing, Sing.”
After sitting there for several minutes, we wondered if the characters had ever shown up. We walked back to the entryway, and Aladdin was there all alone. We posed with him (being forced to take a “selfie”).
We asked him about where his wifey was, and he told us she was having a “girls day” over in Fantasy Faire. So we parted with Aladdin and walked in that direction.
There was no line at the Princess Royal Hall (I love that there usually isn’t!), and we quickly went through. First we met Snow White.
Next was Ariel.
And last was Aurora.
So… where was Jasmine??
We asked the cast member working the entrance whether Jasmine was actually going to be there this afternoon, and she told us to check back in about 15 minutes.
While we waited, we explored Fantasy Faire for a little while.
