After riding Toy Story Mania, we decided to start heading toward the exit. Tracy’s mood had improved as her headache had mostly gone away and I was feeling much less stressed out now that I had the DAS in hand.
The park was already about to close anyway, but we stopped in quickly at Pacific Wharf and decided to buy some hot chocolate in the new Halloween souvenir mug.
Disney hot chocolate is SO good, and we knew we needed to add this mug to our collection because we really liked the design.
On the way out, we also stopped in a Julius Katz and Sons and were looking at merchandise. We decided to try our luck for a second time trying to buy a Vinylmation Park Starz 2 figure. We’d actually “cheated” and looked online to find out where in the case the Orange Bird was supposed to be, so we found a full case and chose one from that position. Unfortunately, we once again ended up with one of the only Vinyls in that collection that we really don’t care about. This time it was the chaser, Wally Boag. Since we never got to see the Golden Horseshoe Revue, we have no attachment to that character, and we were a little bummed to have spent money on him. Oh well, we decided, maybe we’d be able to trade him sometime.
Since the park was actually closed now, we decided to head out and go home.
October 10-13, 2013
One of the next days, Tracy and I had quite the photo session with Crooky. First he was laying with Duffy on top of a stack of papers.
Next, he was thoroughly enjoying the new toy we got him.
On Saturday, we started to make our way to Disneyland after lunch, but we checked Lines and Mouse Wait en route and found out that it was supposed to be a madhouse because this was Columbus Day weekend. Not really in the mood to face that level of crowds, we scrapped our plan mid-drive. Instead, we decided to check if there were any interesting movies we might want to see, and we settled on Don Jon because it had gotten good reviews that week. It was our first time heading to the movies in almost a year, so we were kind of excited.
The best show times were in Brea, and we liked this giant pumpkin outside the theater.
I feel like the content of that movie isn’t exactly DIS-appropriate, but both Tracy and I thought it was pretty good. Not 100% our cup of tea, but enjoyable enough. After the movie, we went to the mall, and Tracy bought this Jasmine headband at Hot Topic to match her Aladdin shirt.
This picture is unrelated, but look how cute Crooky is.
Sunday, we decided we needed to brave the parks to get our fix—even though we knew it would still be plenty crowded. We decided to skip Mickey and Friends entirely, since we were sure it would be closed by early afternoon (plus parking was free for everyone today because of the CHOC Walk). When we arrived at Toy Story, we were actually diverted into Pongo—one of the cast member lots. We knew that was a bad sign when it came to how crowded it was probably going to be, but we were still a little excited because we love 101 Dalmatians.
Taking the bus and getting to the entrance certainly took a while, but the lines to get into Disneyland weren’t quite as bad as we envisioned they might be.
Tracy was looking good in her Jasmine ensemble.
Making it into the park, we were excited to see one of the carriage horses (I think it was Ducky?), but we were sad when we realized he was hitched to the opposite side of the street car so he could go in for the afternoon.
Mickey was in the middle of Town Square, so I sniped a picture of him as we walked by.
The Dapper Dans suddenly came out to sing in front of the Firehouse, so we stopped to watch their Halloween Time show. This was REALLY great! Now, the Dapper Dans are always fun to watch, but I love how much they change up their act throughout the year.
We actually noticed for the first time that several of the members we were used to seeing weren’t there that day. Apparently a lot of the main cast takes Sundays off.
After they finished their set, people were taking photos, so Tracy had me go up and pose.
