Breakfast Guests

Here’s the link to our Personal Navigator for Day 5. It’s hard to believe that we had basically hit the halfway point of the cruise already!
This morning was our character breakfast, so we had to rise and shine pretty early in order to be on time.
The views from our verandah were beautiful (as always).
Heading down to Parrot Cay, we found our usual table and took our seats. I can’t remember if John and Candida were already there when we arrived, but I know they showed up quickly if they weren’t. Candida had told us repeatedly during our other meals that she was NOT a morning person, so we were a little shocked to see her up and about at this hour.
Breakfast was served a la carte for the character meal by our regular team, so it was funny seeing Putu and Cindy at the beginning of our day instead of while it was winding down. Cindy had gotten into the habit of bringing Tracy and me Shirley Temples at night, but we had to mix up our drink order for breakfast and get coffee (or the sorry excuse for coffee known as Nescafe).
Of course, Tracy ordered Mickey Waffles again—and I think Candida may have followed suit. I’m pretty sure I opted for some sort of French Toast after really enjoying it at another one of our breakfasts.
The characters were already starting to make the rounds as we got settled and waited for our food. Before too long, the main cheese himself showed up. The characters were wandering around with some of the Shutters photographers, but they were more than willing to take pictures on our cameras as well.
Mickey was followed closely by Goofy.
Soon, our serving team came around with napkin hats for us to put on. Tracy got a Minnie Mouse bow.
And I got a very elaborate Goofy hat/ears. Mine was awesome but extremely difficult to keep on.
When Minnie came around, we had to get a photo with our new headwear.
Notice how hard it looks like I have to try to keep my head perfectly level in the photos. That’s not an exaggeration at all!
Quite suddenly, we heard some commotion coming from the tables next to the portholes. Apparently there was at least one whale passing by outside, so we all rushed over to the window to try to see it.
If there is one animal that my dinky point-and-shoot camera really couldn’t do justice, it was the whales. They were so fast to pop in and out of the water. Here’s another attempt at a photo.
Here’s a video that I grabbed. It’s still not excellent quality by any means, but it does a better job showing what we were seeing.

After all the hubbub had died down, we returned to our table just in time for Pluto to come around.
I would say this was the Fab Five that we were getting to meet, but Donald seemed to be absent this morning, so it was more of a “Fab Four.”
As we finished eating, our table mates had the idea of getting a picture with all four of us and our serving team, and we gladly obliged. John called over our head server, Roy, with the intention of having him take the photos, but he was pretty sure that we wanted him to be in the photos instead. So Roy called over another of the servers named Sheldon.
Poor Sheldon was the butt of many jokes as he prepared to take our pictures. Putu, Roy, and Cindy were telling us tall tales about how Sheldon barely knew how to use a camera and how he used to be on the Shutters photography team but got demoted to being a server because all his pictures turned out so terribly. Luckily, Sheldon was a good sport, and I think his photo of our little group turned out quite well!
Once the picture was taken, our character meal had come to an end, and we started to make our way out of Parrot Cay. This character dining experience is actually a really fun offering that’s only included on longer cruises. It was a great way for us to get character photos in a different setting, and we thought it was a nice way to start off our Tracy Arm day. We actually really lucked out to get scheduled to have the character meal this morning because I think other groups had it on port mornings—when we probably wouldn’t have been as keen to participate. We bade farewell to our serving team and our table mates as we went off to prepare for the rest of our days, with the promise that we would have plenty of Tracy Arm stories to share when we met again at dinnertime.
