August 2014 DLR Report Update (11/24/14) | No Longer Californians, but Still Annual Passholders

Chapter 15
It’s Mary That We Love

After hopping to Disneyland, we saw that the Horse-Drawn Streetcar was just leaving its spot, so we decided to climb aboard the Omnibus instead. We sat in the front seat next to the driver because the front-facing seats on the top row were already taken. When the driver got back in, he asked if Tracy wanted to push the button that starts the bus and she gladly obliged (definitely a random thing to check off the bucket list!).

Of course, we passed another of the horses en route.

Here’s a photo of us in the rear-view mirror.

As we pulled up to Sleeping Beauty Castle, the Pearly Band was performing with Mary Poppins and Bert. I’d seen pictures from this show on Twitter before, but we’d never happened to catch it in person. It was a lot of fun—especially for big fans of all the Mary Poppins music like we are.

Here’s a video clip.

The show was still going on when Lucky the horse pulled up with his streetcar behind us, and we really wanted to get a ride in before they went away for the day, so we broke away from the Jolly Holiday we were having with Mary in order to go board.

I’m still terrible at names when it comes to the horses—it’s embarrassing really—so they only reason I know this is Lucky was because of his name tag.

Soon we were headed back down Main Street to Town Square.

The conductor was blocking my way, so I couldn’t get my picture over the horse’s head as well as usual.

Tracy had to blow a kiss to her friend.

The Haunted Mansion 45th anniversary celebration was in full swing during this trip, so we had to go check out all the merchandise in the Disneyana shop. I think we should have bought several of these sconces to mount on the walls of our stretching room at home.

I really enjoyed some of the artwork hanging around the Disneyland Gallery as well.

I love when the artists are doing sketches of park icons in the shops. This one is Madame Leota floating in her crystal ball.

More artwork that we were drooling over.

We really liked that this Thomas Kincaid Lady and the Tramp print features Trusty.

And the evil kitties.

Since Halloween decorations were just beginning to pop up, there weren’t too many pumpkins around yet, which was why I was able to take note of this awesome Mrs. Potts pumpkin that I’d never noticed before.

It was time for us to ride Alice in Wonderland one last time for this trip, and afterward, we headed through Big Thunder Trail.

As we walked, we noticed this tiny lizard scampering around, and we wanted to make sure that he could get all the way across the sidewalk without getting stepped on.

While we stood next to him and waited for him to move along, he decided that my shoe looked like a good place to hang out for a while, so he climbed aboard.

Not really sure what to do, I just sort of lightly stepped over toward the side of the walkway and tried to lightly shake my foot. Eventually, he scampered off into the safety of the brush.

Walking back past the Ranch, we got our very last sighting of Pocahontas EVER—though of course, we didn’t know it at the time.

We also walked back and said hello to Clarabelle.

Starting to get a little hungry, we walked over to Adventureland to line up for a snack that I’m embarrassed to admit we hadn’t gotten once during the entire time we lived in SoCal. Would it live up to our expectations?
