Are You Ready for Halloween?

I think we all rolled our eyes a little when Mickey’s Costume Party Cavalcade started with the Frozen pre-parade. Don’t get me wrong—I liked Frozen a lot when it first came out, but I’m really tired of what Disney marketing has done with the property ever since.

After “Let It Go” faded into the distance, the parade began in earnest.

It sounds like we might not get to see this gem ever again since they’re not going to be presenting it at this year’s Halloween parties, but it definitely gave us a chuckle. The repetitive music gets stuck in your head immediately, and all the verses are increasingly ridiculous each time.

There are certainly some fun parts to it, but on the whole it’s not the most memorable parade experience.

So many rolling pumpkins!

Dancing princesses.

And of course, Miss Piggy bringing up the rear.

We were sad that the tricycle-riding Duffy had been cut from the parade this year (though we weren’t too surprised). On the whole, this is a fun afterthought to the party, but I definitely wouldn’t include it on the list of must-dos.

The party still had almost a half-hour remaining, but we’d basically done everything we set out to do. We’d also been awake for far too many hours at this point, so we decided to head back to our hotel.

On the whole, after going to it two years in a row, I would definitely still recommend the Disneyland Halloween Party wholeheartedly to anyone on the fence. I’m sure it’s not as exciting as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Walt Disney World (which we finally get to experience this fall!), but it’s still got plenty of special elements that make it a really fun time!
