It’s our final sea day, and here’s is the ninth (and last) Personal Navigator of the cruise.

We slept in a bit since we didn’t have anywhere to be—which was, admittedly, a nice change after several ports of call in a row. When we went outside on our verandah, it was a little bizarre to realize how much civilization seemed to still be around us. It no longer felt like we were just sailing through the uncharted wilderness.

I think we had technically already left Alaskan waters behind us and were back in Canada.

We made sure to get up with enough time to visit Parrot Cay for breakfast now that it was available as a buffet (it hadn’t been for the first several days of the cruise because it was being used for the character breakfasts).

We passed through Route 66 on the way down to the restaurant, and I got some pictures because I hadn’t really done so before.

This made me wonder how far we actually were from Disneyland…

Parrot Cay was pretty empty when we arrived.

We were actually seated at our usual table, so we felt like we knew it well.

Breakfast was good. Not as exciting as the a la carte option in Triton’s (mostly because Tracy couldn’t get her Mickey waffles), but still a good start to the day.

I still really like the bird sounds they play in the foyer.

We thought about stopping into the Promenade Lounge for Disney Trivia, but we decided against it at the last minute.

Instead, we went up to Deck 10 and redeemed our free latte at the Cove Cafe because we’d filled up our punchcard.

We were really glad that the barista had mentioned this on our first visit, because it’s actually a great opportunity for coffee lovers on a long cruise.

It’s hard to believe it since we had just eaten breakfast, but it was already lunchtime before too long, so we went to Triton’s for a relatively small bite (mostly, we had just gotten tired of Beach Blanket Buffet at this point and were trying to eat elsewhere for the rest of the cruise).

For the first time in several days, we actually checked our Personal Navigator with the intention of finding something to do (we hadn’t had much time for shipboard activities while in our various ports). We found out that they were doing a class on Towel Folding at 2:15 in Studio Sea, so we made our way in that general direction.

When we arrived, we were given a sheet of instructions and several towels to practice with.

And here are scans of the page in case you want to practice making your own towel animals at home.

Even though the demonstration was being led by the Cruise Staff, they brought in the real experts—stateroom hosts—to show us how it was all done. It was actually a really clever system where they had a camera pointed at the host’s towel and then broadcast it on TV screens in the club as he walked us through each towel animal step by step.

Here were some examples up front.

Now, we started with the “easiest” towel animal: the swan. But even that wasn’t anywhere near as basic as it looks. Here’s my first try.

And here’s mine with Tracy’s. She did a better job wrapping the towel really tight.

Next was the dog. For some reason, this one gave me even more trouble than the swan had. It was something about the instructions for the base that really threw me off.

Once again, Tracy was a pro from the get-go.

Here’s how my dog turned out.

And hers.

The elephant was (I think) the hardest thing we attempted. I’m pretty sure I never got mine to stand up…

But here’s Tracy’s.

I finally hit my stride with the last animal we attempted, and we were both able to fold passable monkeys!

I think it’s clear that I found my future profession… But in all honesty, this was a really fun activity, and it had us both in stitches throughout the experience.
